I'm here because it's a place where I want to be.

What do I do with my life - still pondering that, keep exploring the possibilities I suppose...

I do have another more personal moblog Vivupclose

Take a look at my daughter Beth's website...

food for thought...

Everyone, in some small sacred sanctuary of the self, is nuts. -Leo Rosten, author (1908-1997)

We think caged birds sing, when indeed they cry. -John Webster, playwright (c. 1580-1634)

There are two kinds of light -- the glow that illuminates, and the glare that obscures. -James Thurber, writer and cartoonist (1894-1961)

The artist brings something into the world that didn't exist before, and he does it without destroying something else. -John Updike, writer (1932-2009)

Some people become so expert at reading between the lines they don't read the lines. -Margaret Millar, novelist (1915-1994)

There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest. -Elie Wiesel, writer, Nobel laureate (b. 1928)

Was lovely to share it with Dave (and Diana), who Alan first met on 16th November 1959, when he started work at the Probate Registry in Manchester! We spent many happy times with him and Diana. They introduced us to curry - starting with a chicken madras! That was at the long gone Everest (on Portland Street I think). We saw them married in 1963 - the day my A level results were out:) After we were married and Dave had left Probate we moved away saw very little of them until 1982 - when we had moved to Bristol('81) and the tenancy on the house we had rented ran out and we spent 2 months in a caravan at Brean Sands waiting for completion on our next home. Dave and Diana were then running the P.O. at Churchill. We saw them regularly until we moved up here 27 years ago and I think have only seen them once since! We had a great weekend - Diana said she hadn't laughed so much in years. Musn't leave it so long next time - we might not all make it until our 80's!

Thanks both.
An interesting question...

The time space doesn't mean anything when we see people like this again - but now we are all very aware of the aging process. I certainly don't think they have flown by but my 10 years of retirement seem to have! There are so many landmarks in the 45 years, lived the first half in 4 different places but double the number of homes, then the second half here in Hebden. H was 5 and Beth 3! In that time they have grown up and left home etc and my parents and my sister have died, as well as some old friends. Also I joined the world of moblog -it unfolds sometimes it seems quickly sometimes not.
