Originally from the UK, I am currently living with Spiderbaby in the sub-arctic city of Umeå in the north of Sweden.

Currently I am working part-time on a research project at Norrlands universitetssjukhus and being a stay-at-home dad. At least until the snow clears, then I'll be a pushing-a-pram-around-Nydala-lake dad. In addition I am trying to make my photography hobby pay by making some of my images available to buy from instacanv.as or from me directly.

Interesting things I read recently:

If the London Underground network at rush-hour were a city, it would be the fourth-largest in the UK.

"If someone can work out how to hook up a chocolate bar into a cell phone, that'd be pretty good, because there's about 35 times the energy density in a bar of Cadbury Dairy Milk [than cellphone batteries]". Simon Segars, ARM
Source: The Register.

I am Pavlovs_dog on PSN and would be happy to link up with PS3-owning mobloggers : )

Too Much Information: The first album I ever bought was the Fraggle Rock soundtrack. Pretty cool, eh? I was only 16 : )

This guy is driving me crazy parking his over-sized motorbike in the bicycle stand. There is lots of space in the parking lot, but oh no, he has to put it there. The bike stand is usually packed and this makes it even harder to find a rack.

It was even worse yesterday - he parked sideways taking up 6 bike spaces!

Annoying indeed. But a possible defence - are there proper motorbike parking spaces (ie, with places to lock the bike to) available because it's not uncommon for bike thieves to pick up motorbikes whole and chuck them in a van, taking wheel/brake locks off later on. The more paranoid biker might prefer being able to lock his bike to something.

A fair point, but 1) He doesn't seem to actually lock his bike to the rack, he just leaves it there. 2) This is Sweden.

1 is a function of 2 but in his defence, even in Sweden there are car drivers who just "didn't see" the motorbike they knocked over on their way into a parking spot.
