only mavis and mother have hair left. Jasmine decided to lose the lot after the last nit infestation. After she'd been shorn she didn't like it, but her schoolfriends think it is really cool, and now she's cool with it too. When did she suddenly start to worry what her peers might think?

Well, I love Jasmine's Sinead O'Connor look ..... I reckon she has the strength of character and the strong features to pull it off ... all mine have had nits at some stage, hours nit combing makes me think that a number one all round would have been the easier option (but probably not as acceptable in the early 80's) ...... :)

Doing away with the Nit Nurse is one of the most stupid acts of recent years. The school is in an almost permanent state of infestation. You're right that a "suedehead" on a girl (it's more a 4 than a 1) would have been unacceptable back then, what astounds me is how much controversy it still whips up today! She had short hair for a long time around the time we moved here, so it's nothing new, and I think it really suits her.
