I'm not really geeky, but if it's not microsoft it makes me happy.
So far so good Steve. Fastest OS install ever, 30min or so. It worked perfectly right out of the box.
Never in my life have I ever had so little trouble with an OS install or using it after the install. I love it.
Also in case you're curious, it's an EeePC 900.
Thanks, I've heard that you can get a custom OS X on there too. But Ubuntu sounds like it would have more support.
Actually I am playing with the idea of getting a really small Linux machine to take to work, but at the moment the N810 is holding its own and not letting me down.
The EeeBuntu is built for the EeePCs and works perfectly. Was fast to install and the only thing I had to configre was thunderbird and pidgin. Everything else was sorted. I've totally fallen in love with this OS.
It comes with Synaptic already installed, so no need to put interpid on there too.
um I mean intrepid ibex, the full latest version of ubuntu, with gnome etc, essentially a full desktop OS rather than a bunch of launchers. I put eeebuntu on mine when I first got my 901, but it felt restricted, so I installed a full version of ubuntu and just removed the unnecessary stuff.
Considering the last time I used linux the only thing that existed was Redhat, this is perfect for me. Maybe once I'm a bit more comfortable I'll switch to a full version. I wouldn't know where to begin to remove the unneeded bits.
