Turtles doing the wild thing

Have been very busy over the last few months, but it is so good to have a bit of 'room time to sit back and surf your blog :)

OK, large aquatic reptiles getting, ahem, jiggy... hadn't expected to see that today. ;)

It's very splashy, which is also a surprise - they're such stately beasts in the ordinary run of things...

They do their thing on top of the water, but when they are disturbed they do dive down, still attached!

and there ends the wildlife husbandry education for today!

Well not quite :)

They go hammer and tong at it, for atleast a month.

There were a couple of other male turtles hanging quite close by. The guys were telling me that as soon as one gets off, the another jumps on. Apparently this is normal.
