A phone of the first model to make a transcontinental call, which was originally made from Jekyll Island, Georgia. Kept in a weird little Lucite® box to trap all the wonderful humidity in. There was about two inches of water in the bottom of the box, and at no time during the day did the moisture clear up off the insides of the box.

a tropical phone for calling tropical places.

It was certainly tropical in the little box. (Pretty tropical outside, too.)

I wanted to put a little turtle in there. Maybe a few fish, a cleaner shrimp, and some water plants. Just to make the point.

these are great perspectives

Thanks, Midlife. :) These were pretty much the only shots possible where you could make out that there was a phone in the plastic box. I did my best to make sure there were elements identifiable as "old-timey phone" in each shot. Three and five managed to capture the crank for predominant right-handers....
