Originally from the UK, I am currently living with Spiderbaby in the sub-arctic city of Umeå in the north of Sweden.

Currently I am working part-time on a research project at Norrlands universitetssjukhus while studying Swedish. In addition I am trying to make my photography hobby pay by making some of my images available to buy from twenty20 or from me directly.

There are now over ten years of photographs on my blog! It all started with a photograph I took on the 1st of May 2004... It's been a wonderful journey, thank you all who have shared it with me, and made this blogging community one I keep coming back to!

Interesting things I read recently:

"Only one in five people born [in the UK] since 1975 believes in God".
Source: Prof David Voas, University of Essex

"For every dollar invested in the Human Genome project, $141 was returned to the US economy". Francis Collins, NIH
Source: New Scientist 27 July 2013.

I am Pavlovs_dog on PSN and would be happy to link up with PS3-owning mobloggers : )

Too Much Information: The first album I ever bought was the Fraggle Rock soundtrack. Pretty cool, eh? I was only 16 : )

the obligatory VFW-mobile!

Ah, the cultural richness of the yoop. Damn I miss it.

Not the winters of course.

Oh, did you ever live up here then? No wonder you're a bit strange.

Reviewing these pictures it becomes clear that I was a bit more interested in the cars than the girls. Must be getting old...

Ahaha. noo.. I just dated a girl from that part of the world, and holidayed there.

Seriously though, if I could stand the winters I might have settled there. She wanted me to. And yes, it's very, very odd.

Y'see I've heard about these legendary winters... I think they're a myth. I reckon people are pulling my leg - no where gets that cold...

I didn't notice the girl sitting on the back of the car in the third photo. I was gonna say if that bloke is the "youth citizen of the year", the town has serious problems...

Nothing like celebrating the wonder of strawberries.

crickson says:

Ha ha - yeah she does blend into the background a bit in that pic but it was the only one with her facing us.

Ann actually knows her, Ann often goes for a cup of tea at a particular place in town and this 'Young citizen of the year' is a waitress there.

The strawberries actually gave me stomach cramps all day : (

Just wait until the mid-winter parades! Sitting outside in a blizzard in several feet of snow while the Finnish Mitten Festival blocks traffic for an hour is fantastic.

Spiderbaby says:

Can't wait! Bring on the snow :)
