You do know they're not believed to have been *made* in France, right?
I believe there is a certain amount of controvsey surrounding these particular tapestries. They were owned by a french family then sold to J D Rockerfeller in 1922 for approx 1 million dollars :-)
Yes. The belief is that while they were owned by a French family (and then sold) they were probably not made by French artisans.
