No tongue
The black pug has developed the strangest quirk. He likes to lick. I'm not so fond of it. I put my face near his and he tries to lick. I pull back for a second and lean in again. Another lick attempt. Another momentary pullback....
And eventually he just puts his muzzle on my face, leaning in to keep contact ... and will hold this "kiss" for, no kidding, ten minutes or more.
A pug holding still for ten minutes. Not sedated. Not squished under a hundred-pound weight. Just ... "kissing". With no tongue.
It's the damnedest thing.

I'll have to ask him.
Pugs don't ... breathe quietly. Normally. I wouldn't expect him to appreciate anything that cut down on the oxygen available....
