Greenpeace is committed to exposing environmental problems with creative and non-violent direct action.

The Rainbow Warrior is in the UK to urge Gordon Brown to Give Coal the Boot

She's our world famous flagship, she's helped to win Greenpeace campaigns across the globe and now she's in the UK to persuade Gordon Brown to Give Coal the Boot.

There will be political visits, campaign seminars and a journey along the Kent coastline to highlight how Kent is threatened by climate change. I'll be blogging from the ship throughout the tour so, if you can't make it in person, follow the ship tour blog, sign up for daily email updates or follow the latest on Moblog.

Davie.N says:

How can it ever make environmental and financial sense to import illegal timber from the other side of the world. Destroying important eco-systems to make hoardings seems such a tragic end for this timber. Surely our government should be supporting British industry by sourcing it's timber needs in the UK. I'm sure there are many British companies who would be happy to fulfil any government requirements, without the need to transport it (at great expense) across the world. B&Q; does a great range of timber products; John Prescott could nip down on Wednesday and get a 10% discount using his over 60s card!!
