The chocolate was pretty bad (sub-advent calendar quality), but the
toy was definitely better than the stuff you get in Kinder Eggs these
days.

I want to buy a camera

I've been rather happy with my K800i, but I think it's about time I moved up in the world a little and got a nice little compact digital thingy. I've got no idea what's good though, so would appreciate some suggestions of what to buy when I'm in Canada next week, where it'll be slightly cheaper.

A couple of features that would be nice:
  • Not so flimsy that it'll fall to pieces if I take it to a gig, keep it in my pocket (which is where I'm most likely to want to keep it), or, as I often do with consumer electronics, drop it
  • Takes half-decent photos in low light conditions. Maybe a big ask, but it's one place where my k800i falls down.
  • Not too packed with features for idiots, like YouTube uploaders. As the estimable Stephen Fry points out, Uploading [to YouTube] is the simplest thing in the world. This can be proved by observing that the kind of people who do it most are often barely sentient. So a YouTube uploader you do not need.


All ideas welcome!
