Surely it's the curse of the modern world that so many people now work at a computer while the compter also provides the biggest distraction from work ever devised ... (Dave Gorman)

Hoodies swing out ... and a perfect circle

(viewed 2768 times)
I got given this hoody thing to go cycling in but on Sunday the wind was was so damn cold ... it found itself worn all day. Cycling, swinging or just looking like a Jedi Knight, it works for all. It's multi-purpose.

Flying chimneys and firemen

(viewed 685 times)
This is what happened last night. Having finished work, I was sitting on the sofa with a whiskey and a mood for staying in when I heard an enormous crash. A gale had lifted a chunk of chimney off our neighbour's roof and thrown it into the street. Action stations. Our elderly neighbours were prety stunned by it all. We rushed down the street banging on doors telling people to move their cars and then improvised bollards with our plastic garden chairs (we found some bricks in the street to weigh them down with) with warning notes - 'Danger! Falling Masonry.' We call the police and within five minutes we get the fire brigade and a police car to cordon off our street. There's still lots of loose masonary up on the roof and so the fire brigade do this amazing job of clambering up the ladder in a gale, with an occasional brick toppling down to dismantle what was left of a pretty flimsy chimney. Pretty impressive, I say.

Oh and i took some photos hanging out of the bedroom window.

French lessons and pole dancing

(viewed 1627 times)
After school days failure in French lessons I decided to enrol in a night class in the language. While waiting in the queue the women next to me, were enrolling in a Pole Dancing class. I realise now that I should have read the prospectus more carefully. Sure I may need French from time-to-time but pole dancing skills could have really enhanced my CV.

How did I get here part 2

(viewed 734 times)
Got approval for my project to go ahead today after my worries and uptightness . Contracts signed. Papers passed on. I start data collection in March. It still feels weird though.

Walking through Ilam and Dovedale. Griff decided to wade through the river freezing his feet into blocks of ice. The ramble came to an abrupt stop soon after.

Our new crash pad

(viewed 634 times)
We've been staying in Ilam Hall in the Peak District. It's a hostel, but boy, what a difference. I know, I haven't been in one for over twenty years, but these places have really changed. Most of the people staying had young kids. They served meals and you didn't have to do duties. Had a lovely time.
