Before the damp proofing, there was a year of terrible rain which flushed a red brick colour through onto the walls in our dining room. And now this is to be painted over with green. I've seen psych. hospitals painted this colour and I had my doubts but seeing it up on our walls, I think it will work out.

After a week and a half, head down trying to get some serious writing done, I had to go to London for a meeting. Somehow I hit town an hour early so I swerved over to the Photographer's Gallery - Mike Figgis (the film Director - you know, 'Leaving Las Vegas' 'Timecode') had a show there. He's taking shots around Soho and putting 'em straight up on the walls with red tape, changing the exhibition on a daily basis. He was sitting there in the gallery working on his prints of the day when I was strolling around. You gotta check the show out.
I tumbled up through Leicester Square to Piccadilly Circus - had words with a queue jumper in a store. 'Don't panic' he said. I wasn't panicking, just had to raise my voice to be heard over the music. Regents Street, Oxford Street and then suddenly caught myself. Where am I actually meant to be (and they are serving lunch right)? There's something about a sunny day in London, the tourist buzz and those quirky little London corners that just make you want to take your time and meander. But I didn't get any decent pictures - not a single one.

Our cat is pretty grumpy sometimes. She even scratched Ariana on her birthday.

Dinner out in the garden (put your comic down!). Day outside doing gardening, digging out the compost bin, planting, pulling up weeds. At last!

When we arrived in this town I bought my first bike for £5. It reflected my sense of commitment and expectation that I would actually ride the thing. It turned out that I did - partly motivated by my son's enthusiasm for bikes and my expaindng and then decreasing waistline. I bought my second bike for £13. I wasn't that confident I'd keep it up then either. We were going into winter. It was dark out. I did even though the bike was never really right for me. I bought this bike for much much more ... a lot more actually and here I am riding in the snow. Not going anywhere but just enjoying this bike. It's a sweet ride.
