When we arrived in this town I bought my first bike for £5. It reflected my sense of commitment and expectation that I would actually ride the thing. It turned out that I did - partly motivated by my son's enthusiasm for bikes and my expaindng and then decreasing waistline. I bought my second bike for £13. I wasn't that confident I'd keep it up then either. We were going into winter. It was dark out. I did even though the bike was never really right for me. I bought this bike for much much more ... a lot more actually and here I am riding in the snow. Not going anywhere but just enjoying this bike. It's a sweet ride.

Earlier this week, we tried to go bike riding but the rain drove us into the pub which is where this photo was taken. And here we are on the eve of Easter and expecting snow. No picnicking in t shirts and shorts for us this year.

My path has been stolen away by the big muddy. Only way is backwards .. and then along and then up by the road and then forward ... oh man! Just to get to work.

Filthy, filthy weather outside this weekend and so stayed in and started transferring around 10 years of VHS-based home moves to DVD. Range of scenes - our wedding, Griff's foetal beginnings, long loving tracking shots of Auckland, snowy british streets, making cups of tea, moving house with friends carrying boxes and lots and lots of kids growing up. A mixture of the moving, the hilarious and the downright perplexing. And watching it, the kids laughed themselves off the sofa.

On the way back from dropping the kids off at school, carrying my daughters princess umbrella (don't ask), I strolled past the allotments. Love these sheds for all their busy utility and unkempt love as a refuge from ... well, everything really.

Evening stroll out to get Griff from after hours activity. Don't you just love the way towns change into something else after dark?
