moblogUK launch moblog for Channel 4 Dispatches: Binwars

(viewed 1400 times)
Tonights Channel 4 Dispatch is around the subject of 150 UK councils moving to a fortnightly refuse collection schedule. The impact of this on health and other social ramifications is not yet clear, but tonights Dispatches offers something new to viewers, a moblog.

Running from moblogUK and also available via a microsite at Binwatch.co.uk, this moblog allows viewers of the program to easily MMS images or video of their refuse issues direct to an interactive moblog.

This is a seminal shift in broadcasters attitudes to mobile to web participation, previously broadcasters would only publish those images or content they deemed to be in-line with their programming, using pre-moderation.

This moblog uses live moderation, and so represents a departure from the broadcast norm, and perhaps a watershed in how broadcasters use the MMS to web participation model.

Just Jack moblog competition

(viewed 1152 times)
Today we launched a moblog for the artist Just Jack, but rather than being a tour diary, it's a competition to choose a person to become one of the characters on the artwork for his new single, 'Writers Block'.

Entering is simple, moblog a picture of yourself, with your nickname, favourite item of clothing, and one item you could not live without in the text. Jack will choose his favourite 5 posts for a shortlist, and then select one image that will become a character on the artwork of his summer single, 'Writers Block.
