This is something I've been working on for nearly a year now and it's
beginning to take shape. researchpages.net (aka SciSpace - get it?) is
the beginnings of a social networking tool for researchers and research
groups or projects. A Face Book for science if you like. A few groups
have already signed up and things are getting going. It's a shame I'll
be away for the next month with no internet access - I hope it doesn't
break while I'm away!

Crinan and the Canal
This is an amazing place - on the sound of Jura, Crinan village is the start of a freshwater canal that crosses the Kintyre peninsula, fed from reservoirs built in the hills. Opened in 1801 as a trade route for shipping between Glasgow and the Islands. Now full of the posh. We went there for a walk and the restaurant there wouldn't serve us because we were too common.
