It's all sorted and I'm off to Broome for 12 months to write a teaching resource for drilling and water treatment and doing some teaching on a cattle production course with Aboriginal students. I can't wait- what an adventure. It's all a bit outside my comfort zone, but what's life without a challenge?
HAve had quite a hard working few weeks building the dry stone wall for the
new vegie patch. Not world class but it does the job- along with the tonne
of compost and tonnes of soil I lugged inot the graden bed.
Planted are:
pansies and marigolds, larkspur and foxglove, sunflower and sweetpea
celery
cabbage
cauiflower
broccoli
zucchini
beetroot
red onion
peas
and snowpeas
Should be enough to keep me going for a while- presuming they all grow of
course!

Went to see Bran Neu Dae yesterday- a movie adaptation of the play.
Beautiful, fun, shows off Broome and the wonderful colours.

I almost got to Broome then the job fell through. I'm so disappointed for
myself but very sad for the circumstances and people involved.
The picture is of a boab tree that used to be used as a prison. Its huge and
hollow and was used as a rest stop for police and prisoners along the trip
between Fitzroy Crossing (an Aboriginal township) and Broome and Derby,
where prisoners would be taken for trial. It's now a tourist stop and a
reminder of how harsh things have been in the outback.

This is a sign on a building right by Circular Quay in Sydney. The sign is
about 4 stories high. October is Breast Cancer awareness month here.
