A couple of weeks ago i bought some Thai chillies to include in a red curry i was making at the time. I left the rather sizeable bag of peppers on my desk, and testosterone-fuelled as our office can be, a few of the guys decided to see who had the nerve to eat a whole chilli. Quite a few of us managed it, and the last fortnight has been spent trying to up the ante, buying hotter chillis, and seeing who was prepared to munch the next one up on the Scoville ladder.
Next came the Birds Eye, then the Scotch Bonnet. Today it was the turn of the Bhut (Naga) Jolokia. We agreed after the pain had subsided that it was by far the HOTTEST thing any one of us had tasted. Crying, drinking milk, drinking water, and regurgitating were the order of the day.
