Our blog was set up, primarily, for children in school to see what others were up to when off-site. However, after only a few weeks of actually getting pictures on the site the possibilities for inspiring learning are becoming apparent.
We'd already established links with two schools in France but we are now exploring the potential of mutual blogs so that our children can comment and interact with international partners. We're receiving pictures from the arctic from one of our parents and the level of interest in geography is rising withouteven trying. The potential is immense.
It might sound like it but we're not anoraks!
BLOGGING'S GREAT FUN
and, at the same time, a fantastic educational opportunity.

World Book Day 2011

(viewed 791 times)
These children were class winners of our Photo Competition. They were the
subjects of photographs of people 'Reading in an Unusual Place'. You can see
some of the unusual places on the pictures behind them: on horseback, in a
kennel, on the shed roof etc.

Well done to these children who each won a book.

Council helps school hit recycling milestone

(viewed 741 times)
We are now recycling 50 per cent of our waste after working with Cannock
Chase Council to reduce the amount we send to landfill.

We have hit the 50 per cent figure after introducing a number of recycling
initiatives with the help of the Council's recycling officer who works with
schools across the District to help them increase the amount of waste they
recycle.

Cllr Tony Williams, Cannock Chase Council Environment Leader, said:

"I'd like to congratulate all the pupils and staff at Heath Hayes Primary
School on reaching the 50 per cent figure. The whole school has really
embraced the importance of recycling and I know they're determined to do
even more."

David Dickinson, Heath Hayes Primary School headteacher, said:

"We now have recycling monitors in every class who help us to make sure that
we are recycling as much as possible. The children have really worked hard
to increase recycling at the school so we're all delighted to reach the 50
per cent figure."
