Our blog was set up, primarily, for children in school to see what others were up to when off-site. However, after only a few weeks of actually getting pictures on the site the possibilities for inspiring learning are becoming apparent.
We'd already established links with two schools in France but we are now exploring the potential of mutual blogs so that our children can comment and interact with international partners. We're receiving pictures from the arctic from one of our parents and the level of interest in geography is rising withouteven trying. The potential is immense.
It might sound like it but we're not anoraks!
BLOGGING'S GREAT FUN
and, at the same time, a fantastic educational opportunity.

Last Wednesday the children in Reception & Year 1 classes went to experience a ride on a steam train. They all had a wonderful time and an exciting and original experience. Especially as they met Santa on the train.

Year 3 Violinists

(viewed 711 times)
Last year I successfully won funding to take part in a project where a whole class would receive violins and tuition for the year. The children started learning in September 2007 and gave their first concert this morning. Here's a 'fan email' from one of the proud parents:

Dear Mr Dickinson, Miss Herbert and Year three pupils, What a wonderful morning I've just had listening to the Violin Concert ! Well I never thought Year Three would be able to play that well, just yet! You all did extremely well, both with the singing and the Violin, I was very impressed with you all. Today you made all the Parents and Grandparents proud, you should be pleased with yourselves. PLEASE KEEP ON PLAYING, then hopefully I could come to another concert at the end of the year! I wish you all a Happy Christmas and a Wonderful New Year. WELL DONE TO EVERYONE, I'M SURE SANTA'S GOT A FEW PRESENTS FOR YOU ALL! best wishes, Tracey Bailey.

In this case the pic is deliberately blurred for confidentiality.

Today the children are making prototype reindeer using squares, folded to make triangles, to make a strong, rigid structure.
