Originally from the UK, I am currently living with Spiderbaby in the sub-arctic city of Umeå in the north of Sweden.

Currently I am working part-time on a research project at Norrlands universitetssjukhus and being a stay-at-home dad. At least until the snow clears, then I'll be a pushing-a-pram-around-Nydala-lake dad. In addition I am trying to make my photography hobby pay by making some of my images available to buy from instacanv.as or from me directly.

Interesting things I read recently:

If the London Underground network at rush-hour were a city, it would be the fourth-largest in the UK.

"If someone can work out how to hook up a chocolate bar into a cell phone, that'd be pretty good, because there's about 35 times the energy density in a bar of Cadbury Dairy Milk [than cellphone batteries]". Simon Segars, ARM

I am Pavlovs_dog on PSN and would be happy to link up with PS3-owning mobloggers : )

Too Much Information: The first album I ever bought was the Fraggle Rock soundtrack. Pretty cool, eh? I was only 16 : )

Scary head at the opera

(viewed 238 times)
The strangest thing was outside the Norrlandsoperan building. It was a video of a head projected inside a dome. The head looked around and changed colour in a rather creepy way.

Umeå Höstljus Festival 2012

Or Autumn light festival if you prefer. The town centre had a number of art installations and large photographs. Even the cranes were lit up!

The white tent had a light projected against it so that people could throw shadows against the sheet. These could be viewed from inside the tent.

Excitment! New tunnel to the train station open!

(viewed 150 times)
There aren't many places that would make the opening of a new tunnel such an event! In fairness, it looks rather cool. The walls are lit from behind and it features lovely pictures and art. You can actually hear a recording of a ticking clock coming from the clock picture.

St Martin's Day walk in the rain!

(viewed 252 times)
Last week we went for a wander through Umeå sculpture park with home-made lanterns, then ate bread men with clay pipes. Great fun, shame about the weather!

Tack Judith!
