These are random moments in the life of an indecent designer and the city she loves.

I am a female, carbon based lifeform.
I am a New York City Native.
I am a Design Professional.
I take photographs.
I also sculpt, paint, create mosaics, and play with weapons.

And sometimes, I even dance about Architecture.

tunnel vision.

This is the exit/entrance tunnel to the 191st St. 1 train station in Washington Heights.

Entirely incidental to this photo, I was born in Washington Heights. Just not in this tunnel.

Herby Progress, week 1.

My Aerogarden has been going for a week today. As you can see, several
plants have come up and are happily doing the go go gadget grow dance of
joy. Both the Italian and purple basil varieties are going along really
well, and the thyme has taken off also. The chives and the mint are only a
day or two behind them, and I'll take the little dome off the chives tonight
after the light goes out.

The parsley and dill haven't yet begun to do anything, but according to the
label they are the last two to begin sprouting and aren't expected to even
start until 7 days in, which would be today, so hopefully those will have
made an appearance by next week.

Drink me.

One of the things I like most about Max Brenner is the design of his dishware.

I like the stainless steel straws here, most especially.

For the record, I also like the banana split frozen latte more than the dark chocolate granita.

Exit.

Took about 150 or so shots at the show tonight. I really like about 10. Them's the breaks.

It's that time again.

NYC Sunrise.

Taken on my roof yesterday morning as I tried to shoot the eclipse. None of
the eclipse shots came out all that well. I like these more.

The well lit buildings in the second shot are part of the local hospital.

My present. Let me show you it.

(viewed 1534 times)
This wacky looking thing is an Aerogarden.(linky) A long time ago, my partner in crime, Kikuchan, sent me a link to this site, because she, like me, lives in an apartment that's painfully underlit(though she has a terrace and I don't...), so growing plants is often a problem (I do it anyway, but it's not without its challenges.)

Both of us oohed and aahed over this fantastic little piece of technology at the time, and decided that we wanted these things because aside from being dead cool, they do perform several wonderful functions, like being able to grow your own herbs, veggies and flowers in painfully underlit apartments in London and NYC.

So a while ago, I showed the site to the Monster, who very kindly decided to get me one as a present.

It is awesome. I now want to put them all over my house, since they provide tasty full spectrum light for 16 hours a day.

He is awesome too, for getting it for me. Thank you.

(and Kikuchan is also awesome, for showing it to me in the first place.) Awesomesauce all around!

So, my new hobby is watching grass grow. I have such an exciting life.

Shoot the moon.

On Friday nights in the summertime, there's a fireworks show on the beach at Coney Island. The explosives are placed right on the shoreline, and the boardwalk is so close you wind up with sulfur in your hair.
