fourandfive (neé fortyfive) is being retired, after nearly ten years rock-solid service as our server/gateway. A reliable old Pentium Pro-180, it's been faithfully routing our packets to the internet since the days of 56Kb/s modems and pay-as-you-go dial up.
farewell, old friend. you will be missed, but your noise, speed and power consumption are of another time.
These are both cropped from the centre of a hand-held, 1/4 sec exposure at f4.2, 35mm.
one had image stabilisation turned on during shooting, the other didn't. any guesses which is which? :)
It's really weird - once the VR locks in (which is just about as the AF does), you can feel the lens moving slightly as you hold it, but you can't see any corresponding movement through the viewfinder.
Weird, but I like it.
xmas gift from sister. finally taken it out. it flies!
have crashed it several times and not broken it yet.

is the time when high-interest, tax-free ISAs pay out interest. hence this beauty, new today (only took three weeks to arrive!)
Norfolk flint (from our driveway) before, during, during, during, after. rocks were cleaned and dried before each photo, so the shine (or lack of) is real. top photo was taken exactly one month ago, bottom photo today.
new transmitter thingy arrived today. powered by car battery, not ipod or AAA like some others. works well, and it lights up blue.

merlot grape juice. delicious, with a depth that is often lost when made into wine.
