Derby Pubs

(viewed 1342 times)
When in Derby... visit some real ale pubs!

(and take photos of their ceilings, apparently.)

Derby University

I accompanied the BeardyMan to an open day at Derby University on Saturday.
I thought it was a really nice place. Lots of little seating/relaxing areas with the weirdest furniture!
And some great wall decoration that i took advantage of for my dailyme! :)
Plus an old, but still working, piano and some wind turbines!

I Feel Dizzy

Bathrooms on the wall!?

Also: biggest roll of bubble wrap ever.

Arnot Hill Park

Took a detour through Arnot Hill Park on the way home today. Quacked at ducks, honked at swans AND had an ice cream.

Sunny Allotment

Spent a sunny afternoon at the allotment today. I was thinking while i was there that it must be about a year since we got took possession of number 37, so i checked when i got home and it was a year on May 23rd! I completely missed that one.

2) Sunflowers. I just planted the three little 'uns out today. I hope they catch up to the big one soon.

3) I repotted all the peppers.

4) The onions are doing well, but so are the weeds!

5) Finally some flowers appear on the peas!

Basford Cemetery

I have passed this cemetery several times before and always thought it would be a nice place to wander and take photos. I finally got to spend some time doing just that today.
Hopefully i'll go back in the near future; there's so much more to photograph.

I took the 2nd shot because it made me angry. I hate those spikes put up on anything to stop birds [read: pigeons] from standing on them. The amount of piegons i've seen with missing toes or no toes at all really upsets me.

Growing

Lots of life at the allotment lately. I spent my time there today checking on everything that's growing and re-potting things that needed it. It was quite relaxing and i enjoyed it.

1) 'Velvet Queen' Red Sunflower.

2) I finally have two corns.

3) Strawberries we didn't plant...

4) Cauliflower!
& 5) The netting covering the cauliflower. It's a thing.

Onions

(viewed 587 times)
A few days ago we picked our first over-wintered onions (i had already picked and eaten some of the spring onions).

Of course i was so excited to eat them that i forgot to take any photos until i had already started chopping them. So photo 2 is of the first onions we picked; we ate them in a stir fry (photo 3).

Then today i picked some more for making chilli with and i managed to remember to take a photo before washing, peeling and chopping (photo 1).
