It amused me that a search of the tag 'silly' resulted in a page full of my photos. It also did not surprise me.
It was my birthday yesterday. After beating off demands from my boss to come in on my (birth)day off, i had a lovely day which included the following:
1. I had CAKE!
2 & 3. (Notso)BeardyMan got me tickets to see Laura Marling live.
4. He also got me BOXES of flapjacks. Nom.
5. AND a gorillapod!
6. All i actually asked for for my birthday was BOOKS. (And i have more to come at the weekend.)
7. I also bought myself another William Golding book from a charity shop.
YAY for birthdays. If anyone wants to know what age i turned, you will first have to GUESS!
Book Ten.
Still so chuffed i found this in a charity shop for 99p. It was very good. It's not an easy read; told from the POV of a group of Neanderthals for most of the book, the language is odd and intriguing. My new phrase when i don't understand something is "I do not see this picture".
Including clearing the area and digging the ground, the first one took us several weekends. The second, only one weekend. The third is planned to cover more ground, so unfortunately we won't be beating our record by doing it in a day.
Bernard has started to bloom! I was hoping for
this kind of flower, but pink is always good.
We had two massive sacks of top soil delivered yesterday. On the pavement. We managed to unload one last night with a wheelbarrow, strength and determination. The other... we stuck a couple of apology signs on until we can move it on Saturday.
The only way to eat pistachios. I also insisted we name them all before we ate them. There was Monobrow Mouse, John the crocodile, and i think the one on the right was called Norman, but i can't remember the rest.
I managed to stop myself from going for some death-related title. I'm quite proud.
