I'm here because it's a place where I want to be.

What do I do with my life - still pondering that, keep exploring the possibilities I suppose...

I do have another more personal moblog Vivupclose

Take a look at my daughter Beth's website...

food for thought...

Everyone, in some small sacred sanctuary of the self, is nuts. -Leo Rosten, author (1908-1997)

We think caged birds sing, when indeed they cry. -John Webster, playwright (c. 1580-1634)

There are two kinds of light -- the glow that illuminates, and the glare that obscures. -James Thurber, writer and cartoonist (1894-1961)

The artist brings something into the world that didn't exist before, and he does it without destroying something else. -John Updike, writer (1932-2009)

Some people become so expert at reading between the lines they don't read the lines. -Margaret Millar, novelist (1915-1994)

There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest. -Elie Wiesel, writer, Nobel laureate (b. 1928)

Janet's suprise 60th party

(viewed 800 times)
Such a successful party - Nicky's and everyone's smiling faces say it all
The screen showed her son and daughter in law sending a message from Dubai - but guess what theywere there just as her sister from Bermuda whose letter Phillip had read out had been there - but Janet was conned by it all - he did do it very well!
The third pic is not very flattering but does show how gobsmacked Janet was :)
Wonderful to see her surrounded by her friends and listen to their views of her larger than life personality.

how good do friends get?

(viewed 636 times)
I had been hunting for my blue shirt and was about to iron it (ready for going out later) when my friends arrived. I went to look for my glasses - as there are fiddly pleats on the front of the shirt, when and I came back Janet and Alison had taken over.I of course went for my camera :)

This was the beginning of a wonderful afternoon/evening spent with 3 very special people.

We had lunch outside - a real bonus mid October and a good walk by the river then up the and back along the path with all the stiles and wonderful views - then we all got spruced up for a meal out - or so Janet thought we were actually taking her to a suprise 60th organised by her husband and she didn't have a clue :)
