A local garden centre decorated a Christmas tree in masks and the effect was glorious. Put me in mind of the Phantom of the Opera, the musical version which the Divine Daughter recently borrowed on DVD from Dazzle_Dust.
A bit disappointing at the end though, the Phantom deserved to get the girl...
"Close your eyes and surrender to your
darkest dreams!
Purge your thoughts of the life
you knew before!
Close your eyes,
let your spirit start to soar!
And you'll live
as you've never lived before ..."
From Music of the Night
"When shall we three meet again
In thunder, lightning, or in rain?"
Sorry girls but as it was a Shakespeare night I couldn't resist using this quote from the Scottish play.
... one of the wise men's gifts. AKA a family discussion with references to 3 films and a song by the Smiths...
DD: I don't want to go as Frankenstein
Me: OK
DD: Or Myrrh
Me: OK
DD: What's Myrrh anyway?
Me: It's a type of balm (Life of Brian fans in the house say *yeah*)
DD: Like lip balm?
BS: I love the smell of lip balm in the morning (Apocalypse Now fans in the house say *yeah*)
DD: I'm going to go as gold
Me: OK
And the song in my head? Altogether now:
"Ask me I won't say no, how could I?"
(But when you get to the bit about the bomb use the word *balm* instead... )
Happy Birthday Bro J!
On Saturday Bro J took a party of 12 to see A Midsummer Night's Dream as an early Christmas present. And he and his wife wined and dined us sumptuously before the play. A brilliant Bro I'm sure you'll agree!
Rumour has it she is keeping the caped crusader AND his youthful ward the Boy Wonder in there.....
