Back in March/April of this year, The Belated Birthday Girl and I spent two weeks travelling between various European cities by train. Fifth stage of our journey: Deutsche Bahn from Vienna to Hamburg (all three photos by The BBG). More details here
Lots of buying and selling going on at the Easter weekend. And yes, they really were selling eggs decorated with images of the crucified Christ. 3 and 4 by The BBG, the rest by me.
1 and 2 are Cafe Central, Trotsky's favourite cafe. 3 and 4 are Cafe Sperl, Hitler's favourite cafe. 5 is Cafe Weimar, which is my favourite. Exteriors shot by The BBG, interiors by me.
The big wheel where That Bit
in The Third Man
was filmed. 1 and 4 by The BBG, 2 and 3 by me.
Easter Sunday at the funfair.
Outside and inside one of the city's premier concert halls. First photo by The BBG, second one by me.
The people's opera house: fewer frilly bits, lower ticket prices, a few ballets with Queen scores to help balance the books, but the actual operas are performed to the highest standard (if the Magic Flute we went to was anything to go by). All photos by The BBG, but the ham-fisted stitching in the first one is all my own doing.
The Vienna town hall prepares for Euro 2008. First one by The BBG, the rest by me.
