Temperature inversion

Wow I've been rubbish at keeping my moblog up to date this year.

This was taken at the weekend on one of the local mountains. There should be a great view of downtown Vancouver, but the city was covered in a sea of clouds. It was really beautiful as it goes. Plus we had the added bonus of bright sun and 15 degree temperatures, while the city was cloudy and only 5 degrees.

Hopefully I'll update this more often. I've been a bit stressed at work lately. Too many projects on the go, and I'm meant to be writing papers (and *ahem* snowboarding). Plus I'm working with a group on a new treatment for a subset of aplastic anaemia patients, so really need to get that working before our volunteers have bone marrow failure.

perpetually falling

I went skating with my friends on Saturday. It was fun, but I'm really not very good at skating. Aside from going maybe twice in London, I've never really been on ice skates. Or roller skates for that matter. I managed to not fall over at all, but I did get the feeling I spent my entire 2 hours in mid-fall.

The death of my old workplace

(viewed 1030 times)
I used to work in this building for a short time before we moved to the swanky new building next door. This used to be a bakery for decades before it was used by the cancer agency. There's far less yeast-related contamination problems in our tissue cultures these days!

Can't believe I forgot to post these!

These were my fave photos from my trip to Banff in the summer, but never got around to posting them

Christmas on the mountains

(viewed 927 times)
After unwrapping my presents on Christmas day, we drove up to the local mountains to partake in a little snowboarding. Despite the poor weather and lack of visibility (as you may be able to tell from the photos), it was really good fun. I'd not been to that mountain before so it was nice to try out a few unfamiliar runs.

My New Years Eve

(viewed 1029 times)
So I've not updated in a while, mainly because my workload has gone crazy recently. I've got way too any projects on the go, and several presentations and the like coming up, but I'll try to stay more current too. These were from New Years Eve. We had a relatively quiet one round Sally and Simon's place, although we did manage to get through a significant amount of wine and champagne. It was pretty good all in all, but walking home at 5am in heavy winds, rain and snow was not so good.
