Wandering through the forest

I didn't like Cairns much as a city. It was overly touristy and tacky
and there didn't seem to be anything to do without forking out loads of
cash to go on one of the millions of tours they have there. Plus, if
you're designing a city in a hot place, you'd expect they'd choose a
location with at least one beach rather than mud flats. Ho hum.
Anyway, this is one of the few non-tour things you can do. These were
taken on a great 10km trail up one of the local mountains, wandering
through some fantastic forests.

I have no idea what happened to my camera in this photo. It looks like
I've cartoonerized it, but it just came out that way. I think my
shutter speed was set too low.

In the Cairns convention centre at the 5th annual meeting of the
International Society for Stem Cell Research. It was pretty interesting
as it goes, despite not really being my field. There were around 2000
people there though, so slightly bigger than other conferences I'm used
to.
